Reactive Dogs

Does your dog have big reactions to their world?

Does your dog bark, lunge, or growl when they see new people or dogs? Are you overwhelmed or embarrassed when you try to walk your dog or take them somewhere new?

You’re not alone.

Our reactive dog lessons can help you teach your dog how to keep their cool and check in with you instead of going bonkers when they see their triggers, so that you and your dog can both relax on your walks.

Reactive dog training

We offer private lessons and semi-private lessons tailored to the needs of reactive dogs in Columbia, MO.

Image shows three dogs on a neighborhood street at night. In the foreground is a grey doodle in a skeleton hoodie laying down and a small long haired white dog sitting. In the background is a brown and white short haired dog standing up.

In our private lessons you’ll learn valuable foundation skills to help reduce your dog’s stress responses, whether from fear, frustration, or excitement, or something else. They will learn how to regulate their emotions, how to disengage from things they find triggering, and how to check back in with you.

When you and your dog are ready, you will be able to join our semi-private lessons. In these small group sessions, you will have the opportunity to practice the reactivity supporting skills you and your dog have practiced around other dogs and owners who have been working on the same things.

In both types of lessons, your dog will have the chance to be exposed to their triggers in a controlled environment where you can set them up for success through baby steps and repetition, at a level they can handle.
